Managing Director and Senior Project Planner
Mick is our founder and Managing Director.
He has 35+ years of engineering experience, including 22 years in the British Army as a Royal Engineer. He has considerable experience as a client's technical representative, project supervisor and planner on the delivery side for military, civil and construction engineering projects worldwide.
Mick founded Milestone in 2014 to answer the clients' need for commercially minded planners who can help win tenders and manage programmes onsite. Mick's ethos, principles and work ethic guide our business
Working on the most complex and sensitive projects supporting successful main contractors, Mick contributes effectively to the whole project at all levels. He is highly regarded by his clients and by the Milestone team.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
After leaving the army, Mick worked on a raft of commercial developments in the south-west for Wates Construction including the hugely successful Aztec 500 project, which was the design and build of the new Bristol Headquarters for WS Atkins.
As a senior planner, Mick planned and monitored almost 30 different buildings on the military estate on Salisbury Plain and Aldershot Garrison as part of Project Allenby Connaught for the MOD, managed by Aspire Defence and delivered by ISG Construction. Individual works packages included the £7.2m major refurbishment of the prestige Royal Artillery Officers Mess at Larkhill and new build facilities such as the Medical & Dental Centre at Bulford and the Physical & Recreational Training Facility also at Bulford which as well as housing a fully equipped sports hall and fitness suite also included a swimming pool and retail space.
Mick spent two years in London at Paddington Station working for Byrne Brothers delivering the concrete box to house the new Crossrail Station beneath Eastbourne Terrace. Mick was tasked with the detailed day to day programming of the works, including the management of the Compensation Events as part of the NEC contract.
After setting up Underhill Project Controls in 2014, Mick has worked on a huge portfolio of projects ranging from £500k CAT B fit-outs up to £107m Hi-Tech Research & Development Facility for Reckitt Benckiser in Hull and pretty much everything in between. Particularly pleasing projects have included National College for Nuclear, Bridgewater for Midas Construction, Down Street Mews for Leander Group, Catapult Stem Cell Research, Stevenage for M+W Group.
